Glorified version of a…

FEEL SO MANLY!

I am taking The Little One to the San Francisco Outside Lands music and art festival.

I’ve been thinking about this festival a lot, and decided to throw a post together about it. Share some info about the festival, share a story about each of the three main headliners, and a song from each!

It’s been a long time since I went to a music festival like this. It was getting depressing to read about Coachella, burning man, Bonaroo, SXSW year after year and what I had missed.

The main headliners are Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and the Beastie Boys.

I have previously seen PJ and the Beastie Boys…but it must be a good ten years since I have seen either. In fact, it’s quite possible that it’s closer to 15. (/frown)

You can imagine how stoked I am to go, just based on the line up alone! Then I read more about the festival, and I just get giddy! I just read about Winehaven! “If music is not enough for you mookie, we will throw in your next favorite love: EATING!”

From the Outside Lands website:

Music isn’t the only thing that rocks in San Francisco. Local wine and food artisans make the Bay Area a delicious place to live. Outside Lands celebrates this tradition with its Winehaven tent in the Speedway Meadow. Winehaven features dozens of California’s top winemakers and great local chefs serving up their freshest stuff. In the courtyard, cheese and charcuterie makers join Hog Island Oyster Company to ensure that no appetite get’s left behind. With over 50 wines to taste and an unbelievable selection of local bites, Winehaven is the best picnic spot in Golden Gate Park.

Jealous? You can still buy tickets!

Ok. On to the music and the stories!

Pearl Jam

[Download Pearl Jam – Go]

I remember waiting at midnight outside my local record store for this album to be sold! It was the first time I had ever stood in line in the middle of the night for a CD. Man, was it worth it. When I got that bad boy playing and the first song, “Go” came through the speakers, it was all worth the wait.

I had sorta given up on Pearl Jam somewhere after No Code. I think I had become jaded with Pearl Jam’s attempts to do things differently in a traditional sense. Less with the sounds on the album, although there was a significant change, but the way they boycotted ticketmaster and refused to make anymore music videos. In 2006, Rolling Stone described the band as having “spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame.”

Sometime later, after seeing the fall out of the record industry and its demise, I began to understand the moves Pearl Jam was making. Now that I am older, I can understand the weight and turmoil the band was experiencing in a brighter light by weighing my own life and issues.

Now, coming full circle, I am just as giddy to see PJ in San Francisco as I was at 11:59PM outside that Warehouse Music store.

Dave Matthews Band

[Download Dave Matthews Band – Go]

Never seen DMB live before. First times are always exciting. Dave Matthews Band was one of the staples on the jukebox at my buddies bar. Let me paint a picture. My buddy was the new bartender working graveyard shifts at a slow dive bar. He would ask me and my roommate to come down and hang out, just so there would be a few people in the bar looking like they were having a good time.

My roommate and I would come in at 1AM after work, or sometimes just wander in from home in our pajama pants and t-shirts to play cards and drink beers for 3 or 4 hours just about every night he was working. During these heated card games where various amounts of wagers were placed, we would throw $10 or $20 dollars into the jukebox, and Dave Matthews was always in the list. I think my roommate, a dude who loved chick flicks and crazy women, was the big DMB fan. As you can imagine, I ended up singing along, and becoming a fan of the band. I really don’t like any album except Under the Table and Dreaming though, but that album will always hold a place in my mind that is associated with shuffling cards and the stink of stale beers and cigarette smoke.

The Beastie Boys

[Download The Beastie Boys – High Plains Drifter ]

Click on the photo of the Beastie Boys and take a moment of silence for these badly aging hip hop geniuses.

I remember floating in the Lazy River of our local water park with my friend, trying to sing Paul Revere from beginning to end with out messing up!

My favorite Beastie song is High Plains Drifter. I love the cocking of the shotgun, and the vocal layering in the song. I love all the weird samples weaved in also.

I have seen the Beastie Boys before. It was another festival, and there were thousands of people and I was squished in the pit. Ass to elbows; you could not move if you wanted to. I saw people bloodied and beaten trying desperately to get out of the pit to get medical attention. It must have been like being lost at sea for those poor souls. Well…They soon figured out that the way out was on top. There were dozens of wounded exiting the pit on the hands and heads of the crowd. It was one of these wounded souls who hurt me. I saw him coming. I saw that giant steel toe shoe headed my way. No where to go though, so I braced for impact. By the end of the night my head looked like I had road burn. It was not pretty.

Buy some music from these artists, there must be a CD you are missing from their broad discography.

Brim full of Asher on the 45

How was your 4/20? Did you get nice and high? Did you smoke 2 joints before you smoked two joints? Did you get an ounce of the kind buds?

Maybe you were too stoned to realize that Asher Roth released his album “Asleep in the Bread Aisle” on that haze filled day.

In case you have missed all the hype around this kid, let me fill you in real quick. White, skinny, suburban kid who is fresh outta college.

…and he can rhyme and rap with an easy and intelligent flow.

Apparently his label was too dazed and confused to be ready for his release date, and under delivered CDs to the music outlets. With all the extra promotion that was on MTV leading up to the release, you would think the label woulda been on top of it. Maybe the label was too busy removing the leaks on priatebay to properly plan?

inALLcaps.com to the rescue! You could go down to your closest music store and…WHAT!? They closed their doors? Oh. Fuck it. Go to iTunes or Amazon and download the album while you still can!

It’s a hot little album, reminiscent of Eminem’s first album, The Slim Shady LP. Asher hates it when I do that though. Comparing him to Eminem. (See the song As I Em below.) I mean, they look and sound the same, so the association is easy to make. Asher is right though, even though Eminem may have opened the doors to someone like him, Marshall he is not. Eminem even gives Asher Roth some props!

[Download Asher Roth – As I Em]

From XXL magazine:

“Asher Roth, I haven’t had a chance to, like, really get into everything, like, really get into what he’s about, because I’ve only heard a couple songs. There was talk about people saying he sounded like me, and he was doing this and that and, you know, trying to take what I do and do it. You know, shit like that. I’ve heard things. But the stuff that I’ve heard from him honestly, which certainly isn’t enough for me to make my own opinion and say, ‘Yeah, he does sound like me’ or ‘No, he doesn’t.’ But the couple of songs I’ve head, I don’t really think he does. You know what I mean? He’s doing his own thing. I can respect it, too, because at the end of the day, I think he’s dope.”

Roth is more party/college/tech savvy/funny than Em is. The beats, collected from many of the top producers, help to make this release a trunk rattling affair.
I get the feeling that I might be out of the loop on Asher. Maybe he doesn’t get the respect he deserves, and is scoffed at by any self-respecting fan of hip-hop and rap because he is white, preppy and appears to have sold out? I have watched his freestyles though, and he has the skills in and out of the studio.

So, forget what you have heard, and trust me. It’s a good album that sounds refreshing in the recently stale categories of rap and hip hop.

If you want more proof than the track we share above, then check out this mix tape (torrent) which is freely available across the interwebs.

I wanna wake up, in a city that doesn’t sleep! (well…maybe not)

Do you listen to the Adam Carolla podcast?

I do. Recently, The Ace Man had frontman of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Jimmy Kimmel Show announcer, Dicky Barrett. This was the first music related guest Adam has had since been getting fired from KLSX and starting his podcast.

A podcast that is the number one podcast on iTunes, by the way.

Dicky and Adam talked about lots of silly stories, but of course, my favorite topics were all the music related ones.

Dicky talked about watching the band Fear on SNL. Belushi was a huge Fear and Black Flag fan! Who knew! I had never heard of the band Fear. Apparently they are from LA and the frontman was named Lee Ving. Get it? Hope so…

They talked about a song called New York’s Alright If You Like Saxaphones

New York’s alright if you wanna be pushed in front of the subway!

New York’s alright if you like tuberculosis!

New York’s alright if you like art and jazz!

New York’s alright if you’re a homosexual!

How did I ever not hear this song? Don’t make the same mistake.

[Download Fear – New York’s Alright, If You Like Saxophones]

Other bands mentioned on this episode of The Adam Carolla Podcast? Oingo Boingo, Plasmatics, The Fat Boys…make sure you take a listen to this episode of his, then subscribe to his podcast. It’s usually about an hour of laughs and interesting stories! Don’t forget to subscribe to our podcast! Search iTunes for inALLcapsRadioHour…or go here!

Because I missed last week, and today is 420…bonus topical track for you to download! Right Click, Save As, Load a bong and dance away!

no matter what, you can’t take that from me

Was OJ Simpson amazing? Did he just live long enough to become the villain?

Kanye West Storytellers. I had heard the audio rips before it aired. Saturday night I finally got to catch the show on TV. 80’s haircut, Autotune, and the orchestra dressed as extras in the film V is for Vendetta. If you haven’t seen West’s performance, here is how the set list went down:

Nightmare
Robocop
Flashing Lights
Amazing
Say You Will
Stronger
Good Life
Heartless
Touch the Sky

The reinvisioning of the music, and amazing visual aspects made this one of the best storytellers I have seen thus far.

It’s amazing, I’m the reason
Everybody fired up this evening
I’m exhausted, barely breathing
Holding on to what I believe in
No matter what, you’ll never take that from me
My reign is as far as your eyes can see

I actually caught the show as the performance for Flashing Lights was beginning. Kanye’s performance rubbed me the wrong way immediately. I struggled trying to find a transcript to share and use for this post. Sadly, I came up empty. It’s a shame too, because West says some of the most hilarious things during this performance. In just about every performance and public appearance actually. I’ll just have to sum up my emotional response, at first, as this:

You cocky, arrogant mother fucker. You are not ALL that. Come on. Who is this douche bag. You are no Biggie. You are no Tupac. You are sporting a mullet now, for god’s sake.

Im a monster, Im a killer
I know Im wrong yeah
I’m a problem that’ll never ever be solved
And no matter what, you’ll never take that from me
My reign is as far as your eyes can see

But, just as he always does, he brings us back to the other side. The side where we eat our words and say: Ok. Maybe you are allowed to be cocky and arrogant, because you really are that good. I can’t fucking compare you to those rap legends, because you are something entirely different, aren’t you? He’s the worst case in this scenario. He’s a genius, and he flaunts it. Constantly.

[Download Kanye West – Amazing (VH1 Storytellers Performance)]

Although, he does own 12 grammys, so it’s not like he doesn’t see this subtle reminder of his greatness everyday, chillin’ on the mantle.

My favorite part was when the rapper/singer took some time to talk during the song Amazing, and he spouts of some crazy shit, that suddenly and unexpectedly, brings West, the song, the new album, his whole career and drama, into sharp focus.

He seems to derail when he says this:

“Michael Jackson, amazing. Michael Phelps, amazing”, with each name drawing louder cheers from the audience. However, when the Kanye says “O.J. Simpson, amazing. Is he not, what he did, was he not amazing though,” the crowd just gets confused. I just laughed. West, this spoiled kid from Chicago, just knows how to use controversy to get talked about. He wields it like a Jedi wields a lightsaber. Did i mention he is a genius. Did I mention how, sometimes, the only distance between genius and insanity is just a blurry white chalk line on the ground?

Then Kanye goes on to say:
“You either die a superhero, or live to become the villan,” which is a butchered line from the movie Dark Knight that he uses to nail the point home.

[Download Kanye West – Amazing (featuring Young Jeezy)]

It is tough being in the spotlight. It’s hard to be normal when you get all the awards in the door. You soak it all up. You believe your own hype. Then after that, it becomes this new bar that has been set. Then you beat that too. You go a little crazy in your own head. Seclude yourself, read about your hijinxs in blogs, watch them repeated on TV and TMZ, time and time again. Then with that magnification, you have to endure real life. Your mother passing, you want to fall in love and be loved. Instead you are lonely. Real pain. But everything is already turned up to 11. Imagine that. I lost my mother. I know what it does to you. I know someone close to me who lost their mother over 30 years ago, never dealt with it properly, and has really twisted his life and the lives of his family. That’s what can happen sometimes. It’s real.

With this new perspective, I am filled with a new respect for Kanye.

I’m a monster, I’m a maven
I know this world is changing
Never gave in, never gave up
I’m the only thing I’m afraid of
No matter what, you’ll never take that from me
My reign is as far as your eyes can see

The album is dope, even if it over uses the 808 and the autotune, pitch correction tools. The performance is dope, even if Kanye spouts random shit to get attetention. Boil it down? It’s essence has more orginality and flavor then everyone else.

Help the recession and spend some money:

Are you ready to ROCK?

If you haven’t played Guitar Hero World Tour yet, where exactly have you been?

Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with online and offline gameplay modes including online Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a slick redesigned guitar, an authentic electronic drum kit, and a microphone, as well as a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems.

It’s great fun…and probably good for you too. I mean…you can get a sort of workout from the game….or at least an increased level of flexibility and hand-eye coordination.

…and if you are like me, this might be your first taste of what it’s like to participate in Karaoke in the privacy and safety of your own home!

Sunday, my brother and his girlfriend Boopsy, and me and the Little One got down for a “gig” or two. Boopsy had a tough time on the drums, but The Little One jumped in to cover drums while Boopsy got sent to the front of the band to sing. TLO even got a 555 note streak during a song! We all stopped to congratulate her on that amazing skin session. [Note from TLO: you did?!] [Reply Note from Mookie: you might have been too busy basking in your own awesomeness to hear us?!]

The fun and shenanigans began when my brother decided he wanted to give singing a go with the punk fueled anthem Prisoner of Society by The Living End.

Well, even on easy, the drums proved difficult for the seasoned drummer that TLO has become over the months. Even after three or four attempts at it.

Mookie to the rescue.

I rocked this song. It was damn fun! You really had to internalize the rhythm to hit the very fast notes on the snare and cymbals.

555 note streak my ass!

LOL

So…in honor of that fun time we share with you that song from that game.

[The Living End – Prisoner of Society]

The Living End are from Melbourne, Australia. It’s off their self titled album released in 1995 and made it #23 on the American Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart.

My brother loved singing it, maybe you would too?

POST #116! Hooray! Congrats, in ALL caps!

I really wanted to celebrate our 100th post, but apparently I lost track. Post number 100 was my scathing rant about my neighbor bob.

/frown

Well, fuck it, we celebrate post number 116! Amazing!

We got a great team here at inALLcaps Music Blog. When I look back over the last 115 posts, I start to beam. Zink and TLO have done an amazing job with me to share some great music to you our readers.

In honor of post one hundred and SIXteen, I would like to present to you my top 6 most played artists of all time. These are the bands/artists I know I can count on when I need good music on a bad day or to stay focused while getting some work done. I hope you enjoy them all, and maybe pick up an album or two.

Thanks for sticking with us and telling your friends. We are really picking up speed, and we can’t wait to show you some more great music in the next 116. Much love…Mookie.

6. Ben Harper
I have singlehandedly turned more people into fans with this track right here. If there is a jukebox with this on it, it is getting played. Everytime I go in there. My friends and I sing it happily. This usually will get some soul to ask, what is this amazing song. “Ben Harper dude. He’s great!” we exclaim! Already a fan? Have you heard of the Relentless 7? Yeah. Thought so. Ben Harpers new band. Harder, edgier, more balls. New album on the way soon. Keep an eye out…or just check here everyday. Once it drops we will be telling you about it!

[Ben Harper – Burn One Down (Alone in Cambridge)]

5. Manchester Orchestra
You already know I have much love for this band. I listened to the album “Like A Virgin Losing a Child” on MF’ing repeat. It’s THE album of 2006, 2007, and 2008. The bands new album, “Mean Everything to Nothing”, comes out April 21st I believe. I cannot wait. To hold us over, Andy rocked an acoustic set over at Spin.com.

4. Idiot Pilot
Is it me, or does alt rock go really well with electronica? Idiot Pilot is from Bellingham, Washington. That’s kinda all I know about them. How did they end up in my post of the most ever played albums in my iTunes? The song below, kicks such ass, that you would just leave it on repeat for hour on end too…

[Idiot Pilot – A Day in the Life of a Poolshark]

3. Fall Out Boy
The Grammy-nominated pop punk band is a favorite of mine. Pete, as a lyricist, is clever and the band rocks. We’ve mentioned them before, so peep it.

2. Bayside
We’ve mentioned Bayside a few times here. This is a great rock/punk band with strong lyrics and powerful music. They are are fantastic live. What are you waiting for?

…and the number one most played artist?

1. The Working Title
It actually surprises me that this is the number one played band in my iTunes. They are great, I love to listen to them. Reminds me of an edgier Lovedrug. Gets me in the zone though. Yet, not sure that TWT would actually make any of my top ten lists. Strange. The band has finished their next album titled “Bone Island”…I’ll definitely be picking that up. What do you think of them? Post a comment!

[The Working Title – This Is Not Glorious]

If I was Eddie Vedder, would you like me any better?

I have always thought Local H was great, but perhaps a little inconsistent. That’s not the case with their latest effort.

So baby could you do me a favor
fall off of the earth and I’ll see ya later

12 Angry Months is an album of twelve tracks. Each track represents one month in the year after a relationship has ended.

Local H decided to make a concept album (not the first time). They have taken back the “Break-up” album from the emo kids. Local H wasn’t going to make the “feel sorry for myself” kinda break-up album. Local H has made the “ANGRY, bitter” break-up album. And then there was light.

All I can think of now is whether break-up is hyphenated or not.

Local H is an unusual band in that it only has two members. Scott Lucas is the singer, guitarist, and bassist for the band. The other member is Brian St. Clair who plays the drums.

I’ve been a fan of Local H since Bound For the Floor in 1996. For some reason though, I lost interest once I heard the album Here Comes the Zoo. I have recently re-listened (is that fucking hyphenated?) and come to realize it’s better than I remember, but still leaves much to be desired.

I have lost countless CDs and books and furniture after a breakup. Mostly my fault. In an effort to make an uncomfortable situation easier for that person leaving my life, I just stay out of the “This is mine and that is yours” conversations. Although for years afterwards I curse their names when I am looking for my Watchmen graphic novel or that electric drill or the food processor…you get the point.

But one of the hardest things to split up, as Lucas so eloquently wonders in this lyric from The One With “Kid”:

So now which one is the owner of the friends we made together and how do we divide a city and the bars where we drank forever

[Local H – The One With ‘Kid’]

You shouldn’t fucking be able to stay friendly with my friends after we break up. Go find your own new friends. Now when I visit my friend I get to see your ass again? Pour the salt on and tell me how you guys are best friends now. Are you fucking him too? That’s what I just heard.

I know, it’s irrational. Well, you are a better person than I. It’s a bitch move. While you’re at it, I want all my shit back. All of it. Lucas continues:

Give me my Zeppelin CDs you know you took them I know you did
Wheres my Pretenders record you know the one the one with Kid
Wheres all my AC/DCs my Interpol my Libertines
Wheres all my Kyuss records you never liked them untill you met me

(Editor’s note: I never even heard of Kyuss before hearing this song, and I just discovered they rock. Here’s a freebie if you promise to buy the album at the end of the post.)

[Kyuss – Conan Troutman]

Though, it’s not all angry and bitter. There is one song, The Summer of Boats, that definitely is a sad and ballad-like. We gents do have hearts. We are capable of reflecting, and reminiscing.
Then there is track six, otherwise known as June, AKA Taxi-Cabs. This month might be rife with a bit of abusive behavior. Partying hard, trying to forget. Tearing through drugs and women, just to blur the memories.

After that it’s a few months of the rebound, and then the realization that it’s all bullshit. A grand waste of time, because in the grand scheme it’s fucking meaningless.

The message: It will all happen again. Endings are beginnings after all.

Glowsticks in the air!

With a career spanning more than seventeen years, Robert Oleysyck has emerged as one of the worlds most talented, diverse, and respected DJs. Roberts list of accomplishments not only speaks volumes about his dedication to the art and total immersion in the music industry, but his personal belief in music as the soundtrack of life and an ultimate form of expression.

[The Dandy Warhols – Scientist (Robert Oleysyck Extended Edit)]

I first heard Oleysyck spinning at the famous Utopia in Las Vegas. It was this night when I realized that I wanted to be a DJ. Robert was flawless behind the decks. At the time he was mostly spinning the most epic of trance tunes. He would blend them seamlessly and deep. Creating something new in the middle.

I didn’t even like Trance, and I don’t really like Trance now, but with a surgeon-like precision that Robert O brings, you could fall in love with whatever he was working with that night.

As a driving force in the west coast for many years, Robert captivates and inspiring audiences with his unique blend of forward thinking electronic music. Whether he’s playing house, progressive, breaks, trance, or even a mix of rock, 80s, hip-hop and electronica, his ability to seamlessly merge a variety of styles into a cohesive, inspirational, entertaining set, has won over the hearts of legions of fans and industry peers. Known as one of the best programmers and most technically fluid DJs around, his vast knowledge of music and the science behind the art allows him to create true magic.

I recently rediscovered Robert while looking for a good mix cd to listen to while getting some writing done. He’s on myspace and facebook, so it was not hard to find him.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Robert immigrated to New York in 1974. His fascination with beats and drums was apparent at an early age, and served as a vehicle for his burgeoning musical interests. It wasn’t until Robert went to college at Villanova in Philadelphia (oddly enough as a Pre-Med Major) that he first discovered DJing. In a short time, Robert started mastering his mixing abilities at mobile gigs, college bars, and frat parties spinning diverse sets that included music by New Order, Depeche Mode, Information Society and Grand Master Flash. Robert’s style began to develop more when he moved to Memphis, and was exposed to artists such as Kraftwerk, Dee-Lite, Black Box and Front 242. There, Robert carefully blended alternative electronic sounds like Depeche Mode with Italian House and Hip House. Las Vegas was the pivotal shift in Robert’s style and career. In the early 90s, he began incorporating artists like Fluke, Jam & Spoon, The Prodigy, and Moby into his gigs at infamous venues like the Palladium and the Shark Club, constantly walking a fine line between educating audiences with new sounds, while entertaining them with classics and favorites.

[Simian Mobile Disco – I Believe(Robert Oleysyck Extended Edit)]

After downloading a few mix CDs (Look for the This is Not Commercial series) I discovered Oleysyck has posted some of his remixes and re-edits for download. As a DJ myself, I was interested. He’s got some choice stuff to share. A few I have re-shared here for you, but if you want more, check out his download site.

I’ve had enough, so I’m giving up.

Will Thompson, Sam Thompson, Stephen Ross, and Z Lynch make up the rock band The Steps.

I love the sound and look of this group.

The song Pull The Cord is my favorite off the album followed closely by Dagger (video below). It’s a rockin’ track that I think you will dig.

[The Steps – Pull The Cord]

I asked Stephen Ross, the bass player in the band, a few questions:

I thought for sure you would be from the UK. The look. The sound. But you are from Austin, Texas! With all your touring, have you found a place you might consider leaving Austin for? Would it take much to leave Austin?

Uh…London was cool. I mean, I think we all would want to move there, that’d be sweet. I think it would still take a lot to leave here because our family and established following is in Austin

Are you Dallas Cowboys fans?

I am- I’d like to see them in the Super Bowl. Kind of a new fan, though

I love the sound of this album. It’s going to be an album I have in playing in my car quite a bit. It seems like it’s going to be great to drive to. Do you know what I mean? What are you listening to right now? What album/song makes you think of driving fast?

In my car right now: The Whigs- Mission Control
What makes me want to drive fast: Camaro by Kings of Leon

[Kings of Leon – Camaro]

Dagger from The Steps on Vimeo.

The video was great. Not sure if i missed the answers to this one somewhere, but; How long did it take to make this video? What, if anything, would you do different on your next video?

It took about 12 hours to make. I would film it not in the freezing cold and maybe have us come out on top in the video (since we get killed).

If you were stranded on a desert island with only one thing to eat, what would you want an endless supply of, and why?

Well I guess I would have to think nutritious. You know those little clementine oranges? Those would be tight. Or a spicy ruben.

It’s SXSW time, and The Steps will be there. Catch their performance March 19th at 3PM

Get a head start and buy the album today. Play it LOUD!

Me gusta la guitarra, me gustas tu

If you use any, of the many social network sites to stay in touch with your friends, you have likely come across one of these silly surveys. I thought, since it’s my birthday, I could get away with using one of these lame surveys to get the week off. Leave any complaints in the comments. /wink

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool…
7. When you’re finished tag some other people to do it!

Opening Credits:
[Abe Vigoda – Don’t Lie]

Abe Vigoda I got on recommendation from my brother. Not bad at all. I haven’t had a ton of time to really get into them, but it’s one of the greatest names for a band I have seen in sometime.

Waking Up:
The White Stripes – St. James Infirmary

First Day Of School:
Klaxons – Gravity’s Rainbow (Van She Remix)

Falling In Love:
The Offspring – Special Delivery

Fight Song:
The Gutter Twins – Idle Hands

Breaking Up:
Spoon – Stay Don’t Go

Prom:
The Turtles – So Happy Together (Baron Von Luxxury ‘S You Remix)

Life:

[Manu Chao – Me Gustas Tu]

I love this song. It’s catchy, and whenever I am lucky enough to find it on the jukebox, I play it. Mostly because it always will get someone to ask, “Who is this?”
…and you know how I love talking about music.

Mental Breakdown:
Modest Mouse – Broke

Driving:
A.F.I. – Paper Airlplanes (Makeshift Wings)

Flashback:
Goldfinger – If Only

Birth Of Child:
Foo Fighters – Stranger Things Have Happened

Final Battle:
Mike Doughty – Ways + Means

Death Scene:

[Weezer – No Other One]

Probably Weezer doesn’t need an introduction, although the Pinkerton album might not have shown up on your radar. It is widely considered to be a very underrated album that most people slept on. It has some great dark themes. I think it’s brilliant. Rivers felt differently about it though:

“It’s a hideous record… It was such a hugely painful mistake that happened in front of hundreds of thousands of people and continues to happen on a grander and grander scale and just won’t go away. It’s like getting really drunk at a party and spilling your guts in front of everyone and feeling incredibly great and cathartic about it, and then waking up the next morning and realizing what a complete fool you made of yourself.” – Rivers Cuomo, Entertainment Weekly, 2001

Funeral Song:
Big Bad Zero – Crumble

End Credits:
The Matches – Superman

buy some music. it’s ok. i promise it will be worth it.
